Security Officer
Location: Hawai?i Convention Center, Honolulu, HI
Passionate about security and guest service, Legends Global seeks a dedicated Security Officer to maintain a safe and welcoming environment at the Convention Center, ensuring the safety of guests and staff while delivering exceptional customer service.
Job Summary
Provides exceptional guest service while maintaining a safe and secure environment at the Convention Center and adhering to guidelines set forth by management.
Essential Functions
- Patrol all assigned locations of the building, parking lot, grounds and perimeters of the venue.
- Protect all building and property from damage, theft and vandalism.
- Secure building/conduct lockdown by locking/closing doors of lobby, meeting rooms, gates, etc.
- Prepare parking lot for event parking.
- Barricade sections of building according to need.
- Shut down lights according to need.
- Inspect building and parking lot to ensure safety standards, equipment status, parking gate arms, pay stations, cleanliness, and repair needs.
- Create, complete and maintain reports and logs of inspections, repair activity and findings.
- Ensure parking lot layout meets anticipated activity and safety requirements.
- Investigate suspicious persons and remain alert for vandalism and property damage.
- Make corrections to unsafe conditions under direction of management.
- Identify and report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or management immediately.
- Act as a greeter for incoming event attendees, offering an Aloha welcome with a smile and assistance.
- Direct traffic/perform traffic control (vehicle and/or pedestrian) to maintain successful traffic operations and provide exceptional customer service.
Security Base Management
- Answer various internal and external inquiries via phone, email or in person.
- Monitor security cameras for suspicious activity and report to supervisor/management accordingly.
- Manage signing visitors in/out of the building and dispensing equipment, keys, passes, etc. as required, recording activity in logs.
- Communicate and monitor radio transmissions to ensure information is delivered correctly to necessary personnel.
- Create, complete and maintain various reports and logs of inspections, incidents, lost and found, repair activity, and findings, following department protocol.
Cash Handling / Parking Lot Operations
- Collect parking fees and tickets from patrons in the convention center parking lot(s), giving correct change when required.
- Print parking receipts and provide them to patrons upon request.
- Manage cash banks, ensuring accurate balances and correct location at all times.
- Prepare money deposit by reconciling collected parking tickets and monies to ensure balance and accuracy, receiving approval from supervisor before deposit.
- Maintain proper levels of supplies such as parking tickets, receipts, credit card rolls, printer ribbons, etc.
Emergency Evacuations and Crisis Scenarios
- Assist in emergency evacuation and crisis scenario drills, ensuring smooth training participation and effective testing of procedures.
- Conduct periodic inspections of fire extinguishers, safety equipment, and supplies.
- Administer CPR/First Aid as needed during emergency or crisis situations.
- Investigate all incidents as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum education level of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience.
- State of Hawaii Board of Private Security Certification.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to follow departmental and company procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Must be able to work ticket settlement machinery and a calculator.
- Professional, positive and friendly demeanor at all times, ensuring the convention center demonstrates Aloha and delivers exceptional customer service.
- Ability to deescalate and resolve situations; communicative, courteous and empathetic with clear instructions.
- Must be able to remain in an extended stationary position for the entire shift (8-10 hours).
- Must be able to walk, run or move quickly to respond to emergency situations.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays and additional hours as venue schedule requires.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a team setting, exhibiting the Aloha Spirit to workers, guests and the community.
Rate of Pay
$22.00 per hour
