- Compensation: Starting at $16.00/hour , based on experience, education, and internal equity.

What You'll Do as a Staff Ready Float - Support a variety of non-clinical units, including Patient Observation, Admissions, Transport, and other areas as competencies allow.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure a safe and positive experience.
- Assist with patient movement, transport, observation, and non-clinical tasks that contribute to patient safety and workflow efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, safety procedures, and service standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility by adjusting to departmental needs and assisting where staffing support is required.
- Uphold UNC Health Appalachian's Mission, Vision, and Values through compassionate and ethical interactions.
Qualifications - Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at hire.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication skills using positive verbal and non-verbal techniques.
- Ability to perform safe and effective support tasks within defined scope and hospital policies.
- Knowledge of the continuum of care within a healthcare environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Physical & Work Environment - Lift, position, or transfer patients and equipment 50+ pounds .
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Requires manual dexterity, mobility, and close visual acuity.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, hazardous equipment, and emergency situations.
- Work may involve irregular hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous physical engagement for shifts of 8+ hours , including frequent patient mobilization.
